How do I know if a government job notice is genuine?
Check that the notice is on the organisation's own official website (usually ending in .gov.in, .nic.in or the bank's own site). Government bodies never ask for money for a job, except the application fee paid on the official site. Ignore notices that come only on WhatsApp or social media, and never pay agents. Every job on SarkariAlerts links to the official notice so you can check it yourself.
What documents should I keep ready before applying for government jobs?
Keep these ready as scanned copies: a recent passport-size photo and signature (in the size the notice asks for), 10th certificate (for date of birth), 12th and graduation mark sheets and certificates, caste / EWS / PwBD certificate if you claim a reservation, domicile certificate for state jobs, and a valid photo ID such as Aadhaar. Each notice lists its exact documents and file sizes.
Can I apply for more than one government job at the same time?
Yes. You can apply for as many different recruitments as you are eligible for. Within one recruitment, some notices allow only one application or one post / zone – read the notice, because multiple applications for the same exam can be rejected.
What does 'age as on' a date mean in a job notice?
Your age is calculated on that cut-off date, not on the day you apply. For example, '18–27 years as on 01.01.2026' means you must be at least 18 and not older than 27 on 1 January 2026. Use our Age Calculator (sarkarialerts.com/age-calculator) to check quickly.
How much age relaxation do reserved categories get?
For most central government jobs the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 10 years for PwBD, with extra relaxation for ex-servicemen. State jobs follow their own state rules. Always confirm in the notice, because each recruitment states its own relaxation.
What is the difference between the application fee and the exam fee?
Most notices have a single application fee paid online when you apply. Some charge a separate fee for a later stage, such as a skill test. SC/ST, PwBD and women candidates are often exempt – the fee table in the notice shows exactly who pays and how much.
